Katy Perry, or Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson as she’s known to hr mum and dad really kicked the music industry’s asses in 2008 when she burst onto the scene with her cherry chapstick and went on and on about kissing girls and liking it.
Despite the fact that she enjoyed mild success with her internet hit Ur So Gay, it was her single I Kissed a Girl and her debut album, One Of The Boys, which ignited her meteoric rise to fame.
The album, her Hello Katy Tour the follow up single Hot N Cold, and her public feud with Lily Allen (Katy called herself a "skinnier version" of Lily, to which Lily replied that she "happen[ed] to know for a fact that she [Perry] was an American version" of her because their record company needed "to find something controversial and 'kooky'" like her. Meow!
Either way, we LOVE Miss Perry, especially singe she’s started dating out boy Russell Brand in 2009 - two cool cats together at last. Aww.
