You wouldn't think it, but Kelly Clarkson has had a pretty good run. It’s been nearly five years since Clarkson brought out her 2005 belter “Since U been gone”. The American Idol winner of 2002 stole the hearts of the nation with her cheeky wit and powerhouse vocals.
By the time she arrived in little ol’ England she was a megastar in the US charts, albeit as your bog-standard popstrel. Kelly wanted to channel her rock chick attitude and break away from her uber pop image, and with that the multiplatinum album ‘Breakaway’ was born. The album was released in November 2004 and led the way for an unstoppable proceeding year.
Kelly soon became the pop-rock princess of the year with hits like “Behind these Hazel Eyes” and “Because of You”.
The album peaked at number 3 in the UK charts and debut single ‘Since you’ve been gone’ reached number 5.
