OK so the idea of Destiny's Child may have been around since the early 90s when Beyonce was at the tender age of 13 (aw) and they may have had more band members coming and going than Jordan has had boob jobs, but that didn't stop them releasing three major hits.
"Say My Name," released in February, topped the U.S's Billboard Hot 100 for three consecutive weeks, "Jumpin' Jumpin'" became their fourth top ten hit and "Independent Women Part I" spent eleven weeks at number one from November 2000 to January 2001 - the longest-running number-one single of Destiny's Child's career to date, and of the year 2000 in total.
The band formed into what we know now, members Latavia Roberson and Letoya Luckett left the group and were replaced by Michelle Williams, but not without spawning a law suit and another unsuccessful girl band that dwindled into non-existance.
DC spent the year supporting Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears in concerts before receiving their own pop royalty status and causing an outcry of women across the world claiming to be independent.
