Officially opening its gates for campers at 8am this morning (June 24), Glastonbury Festival has seen music fans swarm through in a bid to get a good camping spot for the three day event.

With main stages not opening until Friday, smaller venues will be putting on live music, films and DJs for the early arrivals, with first performer Frei Zinger taking to the Croissant Neuf Bandstand earlier today at 11am.

Entertainment will come in the circus field, many of the different dance arenas and the Groovy Movie Picture House.

Around 177,000 people are due on the site during the weekend, after tickets costing £225 each sold out in 26 minutes last year.

With weather expected to be better than last year, there will according to BBC Weather simply be some light showers on Friday morning and on Sunday.

Headliners this year come in the form of Florence and the Machine who has replaced Foo Fighters, Kanye West and rock icons The Who.

Foo Fighters pulled out of their headline slot on the Pyramid Stage after frontman Dave Grohl broke his leg.

Organisers have still a slot to fill, in a 'secret' set that's rumoured to be being taken up on Friday by Bastille.

Further big names on the weekend's lineup include Mark Ronson, Lionel Richie, Pharrell Williams and Mary J Blige.
