The Veronicas’ brand of sassy, electrifying pop sparked one of the summer’s most enduring hits in the shape of their breakthrough single ‘Untouched’. Now the Origliasso twins bound back into the music scene with the news that they will play their debut UK shows next month.
‘Untouched’ debuted at #8, spending five weeks in the Top 10 and a further three weeks in the Top 20 as it established The Veronicas as one of 2009’s most exciting new pop acts. The single also hit the Top 20 of both the TV and radio airplay charts and continues to sell strongly as it approaches 200,000 sales.
The Veronicas will spend the remainder of the summer playing select North American shows and festivals before heading to Japan for the Summer Sonic festival in August. Having previously played shows with Katy Perry and The Jonas Brothers, The Veronicas are also due to join Kelly Clarkson’s Stateside tour later in the year.
Already the biggest name in new Australian pop and now based in Los Angeles, The Veronicas are proving to be a global phenomenon. ‘Hook Me Up’ and the debut album ‘The Secret Life Of…’ both hit #2 on the Australian album charts and reached multi-Platinum status in the process and they’ve proved to be similarly successful in the singles charts with a #1 single and a further four Top 5 hits to their name. Their growing popularity is reflected with over 92 million Myspace plays – over 48 million of which were for ‘Untouched’. A recent Veronicas online game has already been played over a million times.
Championed in the States by Perez Hilton, The Veronicas have already earned two huge hits with ‘Untouched’ and ‘Hook Me Up’ and are also piloting a new reality show for MTV.
With their upcoming single ‘4 Ever’ scheduled for September 20th and their eagerly anticipated new album ‘Hook Me Up’ to follow on October 5th, The Veronicas can confirm the following dates:
September
23rd – Glasgow, ABC 2
24th – London, Koko
