The People's Music Awards
The People's Music Awards are the worlds first Global Unsigned Music Awards, online Chart and music network, that recognise serious talent across 9 music categories including Best Solo Female Artists.
The concept is simple, If you like what you hear, vote for it and give recognition to the artists who deserve it the most and send them up the charts. †If you're an aspiring artist sign-up for free and let the TPMA fans, which include numerous music industry figureheads, hear your music - you never know which talent scouts will be logging on to hear the future of music.
When artists register to TPMA and upload their track, not only will they be voted on by the public, but also by the 17 Guest Judges, who this year include the legendary Annie Nightingale (Radio One), Tony Platt (Island Studios), and Haydn Bendall (Abbey Road studios).
Rounds One and Two of this years TPMA have already been completed, leaving 45 acts to battle it out in the final round. Eventual winners of each category will be announced during the TPMA Live Awards ceremony on the 2nd April 2009.
Making it to the final round of voting in the ‘Female Solo Artists' category is ‘Neech'. With an ever growing TPMA fan base Neech is being tipped as one of the favourites and describes herself as an "East London chanteuse and songwriter" who "fills the gap between PJ Harvey and Jill Scott, letting inspiration blow from all directions".
Her tracks range from the sultry acoustic 'summer stories', the unapologetic discontent of ‘Ruthlessness' and the bouncy dub tinged 'MerryGoRound' but it's her track ‘Train Girl' which climbed high in the charts during Round One, and is now tipped by all involved as an act to watch out for.
With the music categories ranging from Hip-Hop to Pop and Indy to Electronica, the TPMA's target a global audience and create a real melting pot of raw music talent. One of the international acts in the final round is female singer/songwriter Ebony Burks from Dayton, Ohio.
Ebony is causing a stir in the Dance-Electronica category and names her influences to include Earth Wind & Fire, Donna Summer, Micheal Jackson, The Bee Gees, Tina Turner, and Whitney Houston.
