Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg

He’s the original superstar rapper, who broke into the big time with debut solo smash hit ‘What’s My Name.’  Snoop Dogg is his name and what better way to celebrate his much-anticipated return to the UK than with a standout slot as a very special guest performer at Wireless sponsored by Barclaycard on Saturday 3 July.

Heralded as one of the most masterful MC’s of our time with his flavour filled rhymes and laidback style, Snoop Dogg last played Hyde Park in 2005, where he was widely regarded as ‘the undoubted musical highlight’ at Live 8.   Five years on, the Doggfather will mix it up with songs from new album ‘Malice in Wonderland’ as well as taking the crowd on a trip down memory lane with classic hits from his twenty years at the top.  ‘Gin and Juice’ anyone?

Discovered as a pup by rap pioneer Dr Dre, Snoop was soon catapulted into the limelight when he entered the history books as the first artist ever to have his debut album ‘Doggystyle’ top the charts at No1. His next two albums shared equal success topping the Billboard 200 charts and paving the way for numerous Grammy and MTV Award nominations and many more hits.

Snoop Dogg has worked with and produced chart-topping tracks with some of the biggest stars in the business including Pharrell Williams (Drop It Like It’s Hot), Justin Timberlake (Signs), Gorillza (Plastic Beach), The Pussy Cat Dolls (Buttons), Jamie Foxx (I Wanna Rock) as well as numerous collaborations with the late great Notorious B.I.G. With a multitude of film appearances and his own hit reality MTV show ‘Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood’, Snoop Dogg is the real, raw deal – an all round entertainer and one of the few originators of the hip hop scene that can still cut it with the best of them.

>From the originator of the hip hop scene to the heavyweight of the rock arena, legendary guitarist Slash will tear up the stage on Sunday 4 July, headlined by JAY-Z.   Making his name as one of the world’s best guitarists of all time as lead guitarist for Guns ‘N’ Roses, Slash achieved further critical acclaim as part of Velvet Revolver and will release his debut solo album ‘Slash’ on 10 May.

Hailing from Detroit, hip hop collective D12 have sold over 10 million albums worldwide since forming in 1990 by bringing together the very best of Detroit’s MC’s, with Eminem amongst the original members, the ‘Dirty Dozen’ shot straight in at No.1 on both the US and UK charts with debut album ‘Devils Night’ and again to the top spot of the Billboard 200 chart with second album ‘D12 World.’

Slash and D12 join the Sunday bill, which also includes headliner JAY-Z, Lily Allen, Chase & Status and Friendly Fires.   Very special guest Snoop Dogg joins the Queen of Hip-Hop, Missy Elliott, who is also on board for this Saturday show alongside co headliners LCD Soundsystem and 2manydjs Live plus DJ Shadow, U.N.K.L.E, The Big Pink and Phenomenal Handclap Band.

New additions to the already stellar Sunday line up are Dan Le Sac, Wiley, Roll Deep, Tala Riley, McLean and Chiddy Bang.  Friday welcomes the addition of Danish indie pop starlets Alphabeat.
