After being compared to punk-rock legends Social Distortion, SHARKS are building an impressive reputation after the release of their debut album The Joys of Living earlier this year.
Supporting the likes of Gallows and Lostprophets has built up a strong following, and the band recently supported Social Distortion in the US.
When they chatted to us back in May, the band described their sound as "a fresh rock and roll sound reminiscent of the British punk explosion with a modern pop tint."
Hand-picked by Radio 1 punk DJ Mike Davies, they will be an exciting way to kick off the Lock Up on their day, setting the tone well for a line-up featuring the likes of Street Dogs and Capdown.
Combining classic rock n' roll vibes with a punk-rock swagger, SHARKS are for fans of real rock n' roll.
If their live show is anywhere near as exciting as their album, this could be a special Leeds/Reading debut for the band.
It's on this opening slot that important punk acts like The King Blues got their start, so will this be the beginning of something similar for SHARKS?
Perhaps not as lyrically relevant, they're certainly a great rock act regardless, and are one to watch on the Lock Up Stage this year.
Talking to us in May, SHARKS member James Mattock said: "The timing feels spot on. We're going to be coming off of a huge 4 month American tour straight into it so at least we'll have rehearsed."
