Hailed as one of the most influential alternative bands of all time, Pixies will bring their unique mix of punk and surf rock to this year’s Isle of Wight Festival for a UK festival exclusive performance that will rock the audience to their core on Sunday 14th June.
After paying tribute to the legendary Neil Young throughout their career, Pixies will take to the main stage ahead of the musical hero who is filling the top slot and closing the festival. Pixies are sure to perform a scorching set of their cult classics at what is set to be another Isle of Wight Festival to remember!
Formed in 1986, Pixies' extreme dynamics, roaring guitars and male-female harmonies proved one of the touchstones of '90s alternative rock and influenced a whole generation of guitar bands and inadvertently spawned grunge.
'It was hard to think of someone capable of complementing the musical talent of Neil Young but once I had the idea it was blindly obvious and it will surely be a legendary day on the Isle of Wight.' John Giddings, Festival Promoter
The Boston four piece will join an already fantastically diverse line up which sees The Prodigy, Basement Jaxx, The Ting Tings and Pendulum playing up a storm on Friday night. Saturday is just as impressive with Stereophonics and Razorlight rocking the Solent with Neil Young bringing the festival to a close on Sunday night. Over in the Big Top The Charlatans’ front man Tim Burgess will be curating Sunday’s line up, so expect all sorts of surprises popping up as well as a set from the band. The Isle of Wight Festival 2009 boasts a line up every bit as stunning as its surroundings!
