Orange
Orange is pleased to announce that for the 11th year it will be back at Glastonbury festival as the Official Communications Partner, and has lined up some exciting initiatives to wow festival fans.
Back for 2009 is the highly successful and updated GlastoNav, a downloadable mobile application providing the ultimate interactive guide to Glastonbury. Last year saw over 15,000 festival goers download the application. This year a brand new feature means festival goers will also be sent alerts for money-can’t-buy ‘side of stage’ competitions to see some of the top bands playing this years festival. Existing functionality enables the user to create their own personalised line up. Once downloaded, the service is completely free, easy to use and available across any mobile network on the majority of UK handsets.
For those not lucky enough to have got their hands on tickets, Orange’s Spot the Bull competition will be returning for a 3rd year. Orange will have 44 tickets to give away between 26th May – 12th June, all you need to do is guess where Desmond, the GPS tagged bull, will be at 3pm each day.
Previous years have seen celebrity diarists, Peaches Geldof and Kelly Osbourne, filming their festival experiences for Orange’s exclusive Video Diaries. This year Orange’s top secret celebrity will be creating a must-have fashion item for the festival season, all will be revealed very soon.
Glastonbury continues to provide a fantastic test-bed for new product development; past innovations include the Orange Mobile Wind Charger in 2007 and the Orange Dance Charger in 2008. This year, after lengthy research into the camping experience, Orange predicts how this may look in the future.
A new state-of-the-art, portable phone charging device, which builds on learnings from past Glastonbury inspired designs, will also be showcased. Orange’s 2009 eco technology plans will be unveiled soon, so watch this space.
Ian Smith, Head of Sponsorship, Orange UK said; “Glastonbury is a highlight in Orange’s music event calendar and this year’s line up is one of the best ever. Orange is proud to be involved with the nation’s favourite music festival and look forward to announcing some more exciting initiatives for Glastonbury 2009 in the coming weeks.”
Orange supplies Glastonbury festival goers with the 800m2 Chill ‘n’ Charge Tent, a multi-media space which, last year, charged over 70,000 festival goers’ mobile phones at 600 charging points. In addition, punters are able to tweet, upload their pictures and message their friends using one of 30 broadband points.
Another stellar line-up of live musical talent will provide a soundtrack for all this Orange activity; last year’s Chill ‘n’ Charge Tent highlights included performances from Mark Ronson, Ida Maria and Sam Sparro.
