Newton Faulkner

Larmer Tree Festival are proud to announce the addition of multi-platinum selling artist Newton Faulkner to their already stellar line-up of confirmed acts at this year’s landmark festival. Well known for his percussive and rhythmic use of the acoustic guitar, Newton brings his innovative style to the Wiltshire/Dorset border to help celebrate Larmer Tree Festival’s 20th anniversary.

Newton Faulkner will take to the stage before headline act Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra on Wednesday 14th July, as well as treating audiences to a more intimate late-night set at Larmer Tree’s ARC Stage.

Established in 1990, Larmer Tree Festival has given audiences a diverse range of world-class music from across the globe. This year is no exception, with reggae legends Toots and the Maytals, renowned blues guitarist Robert Cray and British music institution Jools Holland, who will be joined by very special guest Alison Moyet, all now confirmed as the first headliners at the five day festival.

Also taking to the stage will be rising nu-folk star Ian King, who recently performed at HMV’s Next Big Thing Festival. Joining him on the bill is quirky songstress Ruth Theodore, presenting her latest album White Holes of Mole Hill, which received rave reviews from the likes of Q and Guardian. Continuing Larmer Tree Festival’s ethos of originality and innovation, piano-driven polka influenced four-piece Tankus the Henge has also been added to the line-up.

One of the most exciting, young folk hybrid acts Walsh & Pound will also be making their Larmer Tree debut. Comprised of Dan Walsh and Will Pound, they have been labelled respectively as 'one of the most original harmonica players in Britain' and 'the UK's top claw hammer banjoist'.

Larmer Tree Festival co-founder James Shepard said of the recent additions: “For our 20th anniversary celebrations, we’ve really tried to pull out all the stops for our loyal audience. We’re extremely proud to have an artist as well loved as Newton Faulkner joining us and we’re delighted he is going to perform two sets for the festival.”

Set in the sumptuously beautiful Larmer Tree Gardens on the Wiltshire/Dorset border, Larmer Tree Festival is an intimate, five day escape, which showcases the finest live music, alongside art, theatre, comedy and workshops, designed to delight festival-goers of all ages. With only 4000 tickets sold for each day, Larmer Tree Festival has remained an exclusive and personal celebration of music, culture and the arts throughout its 20 year history.

With two more huge headliners still to be announced, Larmer Tree Festival 2010 is sure to be one of the most important dates on this year’s cultural calendar.
