The sensationally talented Mr Hudson has been added to the line up for Orange RockCorps Manchester concert on Thursday 8 July in what is set to be one of the most exhilarating nights in music.
Mr Hudson will join superstar Snoop Dogg, indie rockers Vampire Weekend and UK No 1 urban sensation Tinie Tempah for the groundbreaking initiative in which young people are encouraged to volunteer their time for a ticket to this money-can’t-buy exclusive live concert.
Orange RockCorps’ Manchester projects have started with volunteers already signed up to earn one of 3000 tickets to the hottest gig in town. As the concert approaches, these volunteers will give 12,000 hours to over 40 projects in and around Manchester working across a variety of charities including environmental charity Groundwork, Moss Side Adventure Playground and Wythenshawe Children’s Football Club.
Having had global success working with Kanye West, Jay-Z (Young Forever) and N-Dubz (Playing With Fire), the UK’s very own superstar Mr Hudson will take to the Orange RockCorps stage at Manchester’s Apollo on Thursday 8 July. Performing tracks from his second album ‘Straight No Chaser’ including hits ‘Supernova’ & 'White Lies', Mr Hudson is guaranteed to give the 3,000 volunteers a show-stopping performance they will never forget. Earlier this year lucky Orange RockCorps Collective volunteers earned their way to see Mr Hudson at his sold out London show at KOKO on Wednesday 5 May.
Mr Hudson commented: "Orange RockCorps is going to be crazy. Snoop's a legend, and to perform alongside him to over an audience of over 3,000 people who have done four hours volunteer work to see us perform is a statement in itself. Respect to all who have put the time in to help their community. Now, time to party."
Now in its third year, Orange RockCorps has inspired and mobilised thousands of young people in the UK and abroad (France and Israel) to volunteer for local community projects in return for the exclusive concert tickets. The Orange RockCorps programme has struck a chord with volunteers in the UK and continues to be over-subscribed year-on-year.
And now everyone can get involved. Due to huge demand and feedback from current volunteers, Orange RockCorps has launched The Orange RockCorps Collective. The Collective offers young people, all over the UK, the chance to give four hours of volunteer work to their chosen charity, wherever and whenever they want, in return for exclusive incentives including festival tickets, BlackBerry handsets and other music tickets. This year will see the Collective further expand, offering more amazing incentives from its brand partners and building an all-inclusive community of volunteers around the country.
With support from partners BlackBerry and Channel 4, the Orange RockCorps programme is set to broaden its reach around the UK. Channel 4 will broadcast the Orange RockCorps Manchester gig on Saturday 17 July on T4 and will film volunteer projects to expand the coverage.
Details of the Orange RockCorps London concert will be announced later in the year.
