This weekend hundreds of revellers took part in the fruitiest event the UK has ever seen, as a new range of chilled drinks called Boosted Smoothies launched with a series of fruit fights, held at the Lovebox Festival, Victoria Park.

The Boost Juice Bars Bash saw contestants, who included Hollyoaks’ stars Gemma Merna and Claire Cooper, splattering their opposing team in as much pulped up fruit as possible - with the audience often covered in as much gunge as those participating.

Players competed in a specially designed Boost Juice Bars arena, containing several troughs, heaving with mushy strawberries, kiwis, blackberries, grapes and raspberries.

“That was the most bizarre two minutes of my life,” smiled Kate Pearson, 23, Hackney. “At one point I actually saw a man sliding on his stomach through the piles of fruit on the floor.”

“I was watching from the crowd,” explained Ben Arnold, 18, Manchester, “and even though I was hiding behind my mate there was fruit flying over the top of the arena and I got absolutely covered in it!”

All fruit used was seasonal and soft so there was no risk of injury. The fruit sourced for the event would otherwise be going to waste and after the festival everything used was transported in one journey to the UK’s leading organic composting facility for biodegradable waste.

Each Boosted smoothie contains a mixture of fruit, combined with natural, functional ingredients, which are known to have specific health benefits to help boost your mind, energy, immunity or metabolism.
