Maximo Park, White Lies, The View, The Rifles, The Zombies and special guest Paolo Nutini are added to the main stage line up for Saturday 15th June at the Isle of Wight Festival 2009. Alongside the immense list of names already confirmed, including Neil Young, Stereophonics, Razorlight and Prodigy, this year is guaranteed to be the biggest yet.
The Big Top will be headlined by the newly reformed Ultravox whose massive hits include ‘Vienna’ and ‘Dancing With Tears In My Eyes’. The Australian Pink Floyd Show, one of the most successful tribute acts of all time and such a success at last years event will close the evening with an amazing light show fit for such an iconic event.
Maximo Park are renowned for their energetic performances with singer Paul Smith’s trademark leap, defying gravity. With a third studio album on the way, the feisty Newcastle four piece promise to rock the main-stage on Saturday 15th June so make sure you catch them as a part of this unmissable line up.
It has certainly been a dramatic year for White Lies after hitting the number one spot with their debut album ‘To Lose My Life’, and winning fans across the globe with their unique blend of dark melodic rock. Set to play ahead of Maximo Park the west London three piece have been known to evoke a cluster of emotions from a loyal base of fans. Their live performances have gained them critical acclaim and have seen them compared to the likes of Interpol and Nick Cave.
Following the release of their second album ‘Which Bitch?’, Scottish rockers The View are set to tear up the main stage at this year’s Isle Of Wight Festival. Expect an explosively memorable performance that will leave you wanting more as the Mercury Prize nominees add their names to the list of Isle Of Wight Festival greats.
Championed by the Modfather himself, Paul Weller, The Rifles have proved they have the songs and the stamina for success. Having toured extensively and describing themselves as ‘a real working band’ The Rifles have won fans over with their unforgettable live shows. This summer will see their first performance at the legendary Isle Of Wight Festival so prepare to be dazzled by The Rifles and their epic blend of mod and punk.
Having been holed up in the studio working on his much anticipated second album, Paulo Nutini appears as a special guest at the Isle Of Wight Festival 2009. Itching to unleash new material, Paolo will share the bill with fellow Scots The View.
Since forming in 1961, The Zombies have rocked the world with their mixture of psychedelic, baroque pop. Now leaders Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent return for a special appearance on the main stage.
