The iconic Isle of Wight Festival, Friday 11th- Sunday 13th June, is back with a bang for 2010 as a host of international superstars including Jay-Z, The Strokes, Blondie, Pink, Orbital and Squeeze are set to descend on Seaclose Park, kicking off the festival season in true Isle of Wight style!

Now in the ninth year since its reincarnation, the Isle of Wight Festival is steeped in musical heritage and magical memories. The Festival is renowned for bringing in the biggest names as well as showcasing new and upcoming talent and this year will be no exception.

John Giddings, the Festival promoter, says “Ever since I heard the first Strokes album, I've wanted them for the Isle of Wight. Jay-Z and Pink are two of the best live acts I have ever seen and the Blondie hits speak for themselves. I can't wait!”

The Isle of Wight Festival is proud to announce, following the release of his 11th studio album The Blueprint 3 this year, rap and hip-hop idol Jay-Z will headline the main stage on Friday 11th June. Having overtaken Elvis Presley’s record of number 1 albums in the Billboard 200 Jay-Z is a modern day icon and music phenomenon.
Headlining the mainstage on Saturday 12th of June are New York City’s finest The Strokes. Having just picked up the ‘NME Album of the Decade Award’ for their 2001 debut album ‘Is This It’ along with an army of fans worldwide the band are poised for an explosive return.

True icons Blondie, who were inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, will make a guest appearance at the Festival on Saturday. Fronted by the uber cool Debbie Harry the band’s appearance will make the weekend one of the hottest tickets of the summer.

Special guest on Sunday 13th June will be worldwide superstar Pink who is sure to Get The Party Started. With over 23 million album sales under her belt Pink is one of the most popular artists of the decade. This feisty singer knows how to entertain the crowds, with her showstopping performances and simply stunning vocals.

The Big Top is in for a treat on Saturday as Orbital bring their renowned live show to the headline slot. Following their comeback last year and the recent release of album ‘20’, the electronica duo will get the audience raving as they pull out all the stops with their amazing techno set.

Getting the crowd into the festival mood will be cool cats Squeeze who will entertain the Big Top on Thursday night as a special treat for campers before the weekend officially gets in full swing. The band, whose enduring hits including Cool For Cats and Up The Junction, made some of the best loved songs of their generation and paved the way for many of today's most successful indie pop acts.

Each year the Isle of Wight Festival brings together 55,000 free spirited festival goers, in a simply beautiful setting. It is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive and well-loved festivals on the calendar and the three UK Festival Awards for ‘Best Major UK Festival’, ‘Outstanding Greener Festival’ and ‘Outstanding Contribution to Festivals’ (awarded to John Giddings) is proof of just that.
