Country superstar Garth Brookes has confirmed his comeback with a string of shows at the former home of late entertainer Danny Gans in Las Vegas.

The singer/songwriter announced his plans to reverse his 2001 retirement during a press conference in Nashville, Tennessee on Thursday and now the full details of his return to the spotlight have been revealed.

Brooks will performs five weekend shows at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas beginning on 11 December and running until the end of February. The specific dates are: 11-13 December, 1-3 January, 22-24 January, 12-14 February and 26-28 February. More weekend dates at the Wynn will be announced in the coming weeks as part of a five-year deal with casino boss Steve Wynn.

The weekend shows will consist of one Friday, two on Saturday and another on Sunday. Wynn is providing a private jet for Brooks to commute from his Oklahoma home, where he lives with his three daughters and his wife, singer Trisha Yearwood, to Vegas.

Brooks' engagement at Wynn Las Vegas evolved from a series of conversations he had with the casino boss. According to country website CMT.com, the singer performed an informal concert in the theater for several of Wynn's friends and special guests, including Bette Midler. Afterwards, Wynn asked Brooks to consider a residency there.

Brooks says, "He said it was something he thought people should hear. That was sweet. I told him he couldn't afford me. I was wrong.

"When Steve Wynn approached me about playing, he did something different than anybody else had. He didn't throw money at me... Every argument you ever had of why you didn't do this, he had an answer for."
