Bullet For My Valentine are the latest band confirmed to play the very first Sonisphere Festival, and this will be the only UK festival they play this year.
The homegrown heroes also announced that due to recording commitments, they must cancel their appearance at Hammerfest in April. However, the Welsh quartet plan to more than make up for it at Knebworth.
Already confirmed for Sonisphere 2009 are Alice In Chains and Avenged Sevenfold (who both play their only 2009 UK shows at Sonisphere) metal gods Machine Head in their only UK festival appearance, one of the most exciting underground rock bands of the moment The Sword, plus multi-million selling legends Thin Lizzy. Of course, headliners do not come any bigger than Sonisphere’s Metallica and Linkin Park.
Bullet For My Valentine’s Matt Tuck commented…“We are really sorry to not be playing Hammerfest and apologise to fans. Hopefully, playing the very first Sonisphere will compensate. We’ll throw everything at it, you have to when you’re alongside such amazing bands at such a historic rock venue. We can’t wait, it will be a brilliant homecoming.”
Bullet For My Valentine have established themselves as major players on both sides of the Atlantic with second album Scream Aim Fire, after their 2005 debut sold over a million copies. In November last year, they solidified their place as rock giants when they embarked on their biggest ever tour, ending with 9,000 fans packed into Alexandra Palace. Influenced by Sonisphere allies Metallica and Machine Head, they will return to the UK as stars in their own right after a huge American summer tour.
Sonisphere Festival is set for a phenomenal debut year, with a combination of some of the most established and successful bands in rock, as well as some of the most exciting bands currently ripping up the underground. With more MASSIVE acts to be announced and some very special guests in the pipeline, Knebworth Park is truly going back to its rock roots…
The line-up so far:
