All American Rejects star Tyson Ritter has become the latest singer to scrap shows due to throat problems after pulling the plug on two upcoming European concerts.

After a summer full of bad health and accidents, which prompted acts like Aerosmith, Paramore, Miley Cyrus, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Maxim Park, Slipknot and Zakk Wylde to cancel shows, the Move Along hitmakers have cancelled shows in France and Germany this week, so that Ritter can rest his voice.

The frontman took to his Twitter.com blog on Wednesday to apologise to fans, writing, "I'm sorry Paris, I have to cancel tonight because my... voice isn't coming out to play today. 1st time in 3yrs (sic).

"I apologize sincerely to our Paris fans. This was unexpected & I'm sry (sic). Koln as well. I had to cancel these shows or else my throat is dead. All the antibiotics I've been taking, it's put a great strain on my vocals and I have to rest or else I'm gambling with my voice. So sorry. We pick back up in Munich."

Ritter revealed he was in need of some time off earlier this month when the group scrapped a set of shows with rockers Blink-182 after the singer was left wheelchair-bound with a mystery injury.

He performed from a wheelchair with his leg in a brace in September during a show in Tampa, Florida, amid reports suggesting the singer had undergone knee surgery to remove a tumour. But details of his condition were never officially released.

The band is due to pick up its tour on Saturday in Munich, Germany.
