Jools Holland has announced today that he will tour the length and breadth of the UK throughout 2010 with his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra and will be joined for the very first time by one of the UK’s most enduring and acclaimed vocalists, performers and songwriters, the extraordinary Alison Moyet.
Renowned for bringing the ultimate party experience to stages around the country, the 2010 tour will begin on the Isle of Wight on Friday 23 April and end on 22 December in Cheltenham.
Jools Holland commented, “These are shaping up to be some of our best shows yet. Not only do we have the truly remarkable talents of Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall, but we will be joined for the first time by the incredible Alison Moyet. Her voice is truly unique and has a blues and soul quality that fits perfectly into the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra party.”
Last year, Alison Moyet celebrated her 25-year career with the release of the massively successful ‘The Best Of Alison Moyet’, which was a true reflection of the extraordinary music she has produced, and a testament to the diversity of her talents. Her stunning and vivacious vocal style and range, from subtle blues and bombastic soul to big pop chart hits is the perfect fit for the party atmosphere of the Jools Holland & his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra live extravaganza.
“I first sang with Jools in the early 80s on The Tube (the non public transport variety) and often times since and it is ever a pleasure,” says Alison Moyet. “Taking part in his tour will be both a fabulous sea change and a return to the beginning. It's a great thing being invited to work with musicians of this fine calibre.”
This annual event has seen Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra perform to 4 and a half million people around the UK, and continues to acknowledge and highlight the vocal brilliance of the legendary Ruby Turner and soulful Louise Marshall. They will be joined again this year by Ska / Reggae icon Rico Rodriguez.
