Coldplay have grabbed another honour as Radio 2 listeners have named their 2002 album ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’ as their favourite ever album.
The radio station asked it’s listeners to vote for their top 100 albums of all time, with the results giving the win to Chris Martin’s sophomore effort that really launched Coldplay into the mainstream with hits like ‘Clocks’ and ‘The Scientist’.
With Keane and Dido also coming in the top five of the poll with their debut efforts ‘Hopes and Fears’ and ‘No Angel’, it doesn’t make for the most rambunctious of quintets.
The rest of the top ten gets a little more rocky, with Queen, U2 and The Rolling Stones all making the cut.
Jeff Smith, Radio 2’s Head Of Music was pleased with the results saying "With albums ranging from Sinatra in the '50s to Emeli Sande in the last year, the range of eras and genres exhibited by the chart is typical of the breadth of Radio 2 and its distinctive music policy.
"Musicians such as Coldplay and Dido have struck a chord with listeners and are in good company in the Top 10 alongside legendary bands like The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, whose appeal remains undiminished after all these years."
