Il Divo are back: refreshed, reinvigorated, and ready to remind the world just what weâve been missing.
The original and most popular operatic quartet return November 10th with their richest and most diverse album to date. Produced by longtime collaborator Steve Mac, âThe Promiseâ reveals a courageous new direction for the group over twelve captivating songs.
âPeople might be surprised by this album,â suggests American tenor David Miller. âOur goal was to approach it with fresh ears and fresh spirits, and try some different things. Weâve still got all the cannons and fireworks, but there is more range, different dynamics, more light and shade, more colour. Itâs a more complete album.â
âThe Promiseâ is certainly an album of contrasts. An inspired version of Frankie Goes To Hollywoodâs âThe Power Of Loveâ features alongside a haunting and beautiful interpretation of Leonard Cohenâs âHallelujahâ, while the uptempo, latin flavoured original âMi Obsessioneâ contrasts beautifully with a bold version of ABBAâs âWinner Take It Allâ.
âIn Il Divo, itâs something special when we sing all together,â adds Spanish baritone Carlos Marin. âIt doesnât matter who sings the melody and who sings the harmony, it feels like something incredibly powerful has taken over. Itâs amazing, the feeling, its so powerful, even when I am on stage with the other guys singing, I still get goosebumps"
Il Divo (David Miller, Carlos Marin, Urs Buhler & Sebastian Izambard) were initially brought together by pop impresario Simon Cowell in 2004, following an extensive worldwide talent search. The virtuoso blending of operatic technique with romantic and popular song took the world by storm, with sales of the groupâs first three albums âIl Divoâ, âAncoraâ and âSiempreâ topping 30 million. Boasting two sold out world tours and 36 number 1 chart positions across 26 countries, one thing is clear: thereâs plenty more to come from Il Divo.
