Grammy™ Award winning Newbury racegoer Rod Stewart is set to take to the stage as the very first act on Sunday 29th May 2011.
This is the first time that Newbury Racecourse has staged a concert not connected to its horseracing fixtures, and will enjoy a fully seated capacity of over 20,000. Rod Stewart will kick start a series of sensational standalone music set to run from the 29 May 2011.
The racecourse has become well known for its season of Party in the Paddock events, which brings together live music and racing and demonstrates the growing potential Newbury has as a high profile concert venue.
Newbury LIVE is only one of four concerts that the ‘Wild Horse’ and ‘Maggie May’ hitmaker will be playing in the UK during 2011. Rod once famously claimed he bought his children horses in order to live a healthy equestrian lifestyle and avoid the pitfalls of partying.
Rod Stewart adds: “Penny and I have been racing at Newbury before and had a great time, so I’m delighted to be the first person performing at Newbury LIVE and can’t wait to see everyone there. It will be a fantastic night.”
