As if he’s never been away, Ian Broudie returns this spring with a new Lightning Seeds album, the first for ten years, featuring ten new songs written and produced by Broudie.
Wrapped in melody and full of the kind of timeless emotional depth we’ve come to expect from him, ‘Four Winds’ is both uplifting and thought provoking. It’s a beautiful album that strikes a warm fuzzy familiar chord while managing to reach a new musical maturity.
“It’s not like I’ve ever been away, really,” Ian says. “I’ve been a part of music all my life and that never stops. These are just songs that represent where I am on this journey.”
Highlights are many and include the melancholic ‘4 Wind’, the ethereal sway of ‘Ghosts’, the pop swagger of ‘The Story Goes’ and the autobiographical ‘I Still Feel The Same’.
“What I want to do is take everything that has made me who I am, imbibing the sixties, seventies, punk bands, Britpop, hip hop, this quite unique musical journey that sometimes feels like it’s been back to front, being a producer then a pop star,” Ian says. “I feel like whatever it is that I am supposed to be doing, I haven’t done yet. I feel like I am just getting started.”
