Hugh Jackman's most famous role is that of Wolverine, it was a role that shot him to fame back in 2000.
He reprises the role this week in The Wolverine, which sees the popular Japanese story arc from the comics adapted for the big screen.
But Jackman isn't the only actor to play a superhero multiple times; we take a look at some of them.
- Hugh Jackman; Wolverine - 6 times
Jackman does lead the way in the superhero outings as The Wolverine marks Jackman's sixth outing in the role - and that does include his surprise cameo in X-Men: First Class.
He took on the role for the first time for X-Men, before coming back for X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine marked the first stand alone movie for this well loved character back in 2009. His little F-bomb cameo was the last time that we saw Jackman play this role.
And while The Wolverine does mark his sixth appearance as Logan a seventh will follow next year with X-Men: Days of Future Past.
- Samuel L. Jackson; Nick Fury - 5 times
Samuel L. Jackson is the one and only actor who could take on the role of Nick Fury in the Marvel movies.
And while we may have seen him appear five times since 2008, he is a character that we know very little about.
He made his first appearance, although uncredited, in Iron Man - whiz through to the end of the credits. He then has a much larger role two years later in Iron Man 2.
There is another after credits appearance in Thor, before appearing briefly in Captain America: The First Avenger.
Last summer the actor reprised the role once more in Avengers Assemble, where he was the driving force in bringing our heroes together.
And we are going to be seeing more of him next year as he is set to star in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
- Robert Downey Jr; Iron Man - 5 times
Iron Man is the role that has resurrected Robert Downey Jr's career - not to mention it has become one of the most popular film franchises.
He took on the role for the first time back in 2008; it was a movie that really did kick off Marvel's dominance at the box office.
He appeared in the after credits scene of The Incredible Hulk, before reprising the role in Iron Man 2 in 2010.
Last summer he joined The Avengers for the billion dollar success as Marvel notched their movies up a gear.
Twelve months on and there was another billion dollar movie as Iron Man 3 was a box office smash.
Whether we are going to see the actor back in a stand alone Iron Man movie is not yet known, but he is set to return in Avengers 2.
- Christopher Reeve; Superman - 4 times
D.C. Comic movies have also enjoyed success on the big screen over the years and Superman was one of its biggest successes.
Christopher Reeve was an unknown actor when he took over the role of Clark Kent in 1978 - it would be the role that he would be forever remembered.
He would reprise the role on three more occasions Superman II, Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace in 1981, 1983 and 1987.
- Christian Bale; Batman - 3 times
The biggest D.C. comic success has come in more recent years as Christopher Nolan has revitalised the Batman franchise.
Christian Bale took on the role of Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins back in 2005 in a movie that promised great things for the franchise.
Since then The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises have been billion dollar successes that saw Batman do battle with the Joker and Bane.
Bale has now left the role of Batman behind - but who knows if he can be tempted back in the future.
- Tobey Maguire; Spider Man - 3 times.
It has been eleven years since Tobey Maguire took on the role of Peter Parker in the Spider Man franchise for the first time.
Sam Raimi was in the director's chair for the trilogy; a series of movie that showed there was real money to be made in this genre.
Maguire would return in Spider Man 2 and Spider Man 3 in 2004 and 2007.
X-Men stars such as Halle Berry, Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart have played their roles three times.
While Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Jeremy Renner have played their Marvel characters twice.
The Wolverine is released 25th July.
