Tom Hiddleston is a big favourite here at FemaleFirst and he is set to show off his singing skills with new film I Saw the Light.
We are currently enjoying seeing the actor on TV with series The Night Manager, but I Saw the Light will see him back on the big screen in a major leading role.
The actor is set to take on the role of musician Hank Williams in a new biopic about the country star. The movie is inspired by the book by Colin Escott, George Merritt and William MacEwen and sees Marc Abraham back in the director's chair.
Hiddleston takes centre stage in this great new trailer. Check it out:
As well as being in the director's chair, Abraham has penned the screenplay and this is the first feature for the filmmaker since he made his debut with Flash of Genius back in 2008. This is also the first time that the director has teamed up with Hiddleston.
Fellow Marvel star Elizabeth Olsen is also on board as Hank's wife Audrey Mae Williams. The duo is joined on the cast list by Cherry Jones, David Krumholtz, Bradley Whitford, and Maddie Hasson.
I Saw The Light tells the story of the iconic, tormented singer-songwriter Hank Williams who revolutionized country music with his raw charisma, haunting voice and original songs.
Hank Williams (Hiddleston) emerged from the local Alabama music scene after World War II. Wife Audrey (Olsen) was desperate to sing by his side despite being of lesser talent, which fuelled an extremely turbulent home life. But Williams' ability to write songs covering a wide range of emotions, using his own personal troubles as inspiration, became the essence of country music.
I am a big fan of the music biopic and we have been treated to some great films in this genre in recent years. I am a big fan of Hiddleston and am really looking forward to seeing him embody this role. 2016 is going to be another busy year for the actor and I Saw The Light is just one of the movies that we are going to be seeing him star in.
I Saw The Light is released 6th May.
