Chris Pratt is one of the actors to watch out for over the next twelve months or so, as 214 is proving to be a major breakthrough year for the actor.
Pratt is no stranger to the big screen with roles in the like of Delivery Man, Her and Zero Dark Thirty, but he is now becoming major leading man material.
The actor already has one #1 movie under his belt this year - he lent his voice to the smash hit The Lego Movie - and now a second look on the horizon as Guardians of the Galaxy is released this week.
Guardians of the Galaxy is the second Marvel film of 2014, and is the start of a brand new franchise… did I happen to mention that the film and the role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord is the biggest of Pratt’s career to date.
Pratt’s star is well and truly set to rocket this summer Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the most see movies: it is Marvel’s most adventurous projects to date, and looks set to have the trademark mix of action and humour.
James Gunn is in the director’s chair for the film, while Pratt is joined on the cast list by Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro - to name but a few.
Guardians of the Galaxy has #1 hit written all over it, and is set to be another great performer for Marvel - they really have been on a roll of hugely successful films in that last couple of years. Could there be a sequel on the horizon? Or will we see these characters appear in another Marvel franchise?
Marvel has made stars out of the likes of Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston in recent years, and Pratt looks set to enjoy the same level of success with Guardians of the Galaxy.
Pratt kicked off his acting career back in 2000, and over the last fourteen years, we have seen him move from TV to film projects and back again.
Everwood, The O.C. and Parks and Recreation are some of his television successes, while Wanted, Bride Wars, and Moneyball are some of the other film projects: showing that he can move between different formats as well as different genres.
And Guardians of the Galaxy is not the only big budget blockbuster project that he has on the horizon, as he is currently filming Jurassic World.
Jurassic World is the fourth film in the Jurassic Park franchise, and is the first film since the release of Jurassic Park III back in 2001.
Colin Trevorrow is in the director’s chair this time around, while Pratt is on the cast list alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, Judy Greer, Vincent D’Onofrio and Omar Sy. Pratt will take on the central role of Owen and is set to be another very high profile role for the actor.
Jurassic World is already one of the most anticipated films of summer 2015, and is set to be one of the most successful films of the year.
And as if Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World were not enough, Pratt has been linked to the big screen adaptation of Knight Rider: however, that is a role that has not yet been confirmed. A second Lego Movie is also in the pipeline, but it has not yet been revealed if any of the original film’s cast will be back.
The future is looking very rosy from Pratt as he starts to show off his leading man and action hero credentials. By this time next year, he could well be one of the most in demand stars.
Guardians of the Galaxy is released 31st July.
