Asa Butterfield has been making quite a name for himself in recent years, but this week he is taking on the biggest role of his acting career so far.
He is set to play Ender Wiggin in the big screen adaptation of Ender's Game: a movie that is based on the novel of the same name by Orson Scott Card.
Ender's Game is already one of the most anticipated films of the autumn - this is one of the films that we have been super excited about all year - and it is set to send Butterfield's star rocketing.
Butterfield kicked off his acting career back in 2006 when he landed roles in After Thomas and Son of Rambow.
But it was to be the role of Bruno in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas that was to make people sit up and take note. The movie was based on the novel of the same name by John Boyne, and saw Mark Herman in the director's chair.
The movie followed Bruno as he befriends a young boy who lives in an extermination camp near to where he lives.
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas was a powerful story and saw Butterfield nominated for Most Promising Newcomer at the British Independent Film Awards.
However, it was to be the movie Hugo three years later that was to be the true breakthrough role for the young actor.
He took on the title role in the film, a film that saw him work with Martin Scorsese for the very first time.
Based on the novel by Brian Selznick, the movie is set in 1930s Paris and follows an orphan who lives in the walls of the train station. He sets out to solve the mystery of his father and work on the automaton that he left behind.
Hugo was met with critical acclaim when it was released, and went on to be nominated for eleven Oscars.
Hugo was the last time that we saw Butterfield on the big screen, but now he is back with Ender's Game.
Ender's Games sees Gavin Hood in the director's chair and has also adapted the book into a screenplay.
The movie follows gifted child Ender Wiggin who, seventy years after an alien war, is set to a military school in space to prepare for a future invasion.
Butterfield stars alongside a great cast as Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Hailee Steinfeld and Abagail Breslin are all also on board.
2013 has already been a fantastic film year if you are a fan of the sci-fi genre, and that success looks set to continue with Ender's Game.
Butterfield has also completed work on X Plus Y with Sally Hawkins and Eddie Marsan. The White Circus is another project in the pipeline.
Butterfield is one of the young British actors on the rise and his star is really set to rocket over the next few years.
Ender's Game is released 25th October.
