The summer film season is upon us and there are going to be few movies that will be bigger than Independence Day: Resurgence, which is set to hit the big screen next month.
Hard to believe that it has been twenty years since the release of Independence Day - doesn't that make you feel so old!!! And now the sequel is here with Roland Emmerich back in the director's chair.
And it promising to be even bigger than the first as earth must defend itself once again from the inevitable alien invasion.
There's still a few weeks to go until the film hits the big screen but here is the first clip for you to take a look at:
Emmerich is no stranger to the blockbuster film and it is great to see him back in the director's chair for this long-awaited sequel.
The cast list is a mix of familiar faces and new names as Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, and Brent Spinner are joined this time around by Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward.
We always knew they were coming back. After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defence program to protect the planet.
But nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
We have already been treated to some great science fiction films so far this year... and Independence Day: Resurgence is set to be another that's not to be missed. It really is promising to be a huge spectacle of a movie this summer.
Independence Day: Resurgence is released 23rd June.
