In The Heart of the Sea

In The Heart of the Sea is set to be one of the most challenging roles of Hemsworth's career to date as he reunites with Ron Howard. Howard has brought some wonderful movies to the big screen during his career and this is first feature since the critical and commercial success of Rush two years ago.

Howard and Hemsworth braved the unpredictable weather to walk the red carpet and were joined by Tom Holland, Cillian Murphy, Benjamin Walker, and Charlotte Riley.

Hemsworth takes on the central role of first mate Owen Chase and hinted while speaking on at the event that there is tension and animosity between his character and the ship's captain - played by Walker.

In The Heart of The Sea is a movie that I have been looking forward to all year as I am a huge fan of both Hemsworth and Howard and loved their collaboration on Formula 1 film Rush.

The movie is based on the best-selling book by Nathaniel Philbrick, which chronicled the journey of whaling ship the Essex, which was hunted and destroyed by a whale. It was a true-life tale that would go on to inspire novelist Herman Melville to write the iconic tale of Moby Dick.

In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. "In the Heart of the Sea" reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive.

Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.

There are a whole host of terrific films heading our way this December and In The Heart of the Sea really is promising to be one not to miss this Boxing Day.

In The Heart of the Sea is released 26th December.
