The Tale of Princess Kaguya is one of the animation movies that I have been looking forward to the most this year as it marks the return of the fantastic Studio Ghibli.

If you have never seen a Studio Ghibli movie then you have missed a real treat… believe me when I tell you they are one of the best animation studios and have produced a series of magical movies over the years.
The Tale of Princess Kaguya has already been whipping up a storm with the critics and was nominated for the Best Animated Feature Oscar - there is just over a week to go until we get to see what all the fuss is about. If the trailer is anything to go by, The Tale of Princess Kaguya looks set to be another animation gem from the studio.

The Tale of Princess Kaguya marks the return of Isao Takahata to the director's chair - he has also had a hand in penning the screenplay. Takahata has been behind Studio Ghibli movies such as Grave of the Fireflies and Pom Poko during his career, but this is his first film for the studio since My Neighbours the Yamadas back in 1999.
The Tale of Princess Kaguya is based on the Japanese folktale The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter and Takahata has teamed up with Riko Sakaguchi to adapt the well know story into a script for the big screen.
The film has been dubbed for UK audiences and a great cast has been brought together to bring the characters to life. Chloe Grace Moretz is the voice of Princess Kaguya, while James Caan, Beau Bridges, Lucy Lui, and James Marsden are just some of the other big names on board.
The movie follows Princess Kaguya, who is found inside a stalk of bamboo by a bamboo cutter and his wife. The tiny girl grows into a beautiful princess and enthrals all who encounter her. However, she must confront her fate, the punishment for her crime.
The Tale of Princess Kaguya is set to be unlike any other animation movie that we will be seeing this year, and is already being regarded as of Studio Ghibli's greatest animation achievements.
