Rebel Wilson has become one of biggest name in movie comedy having appeared in a string of hits in recent years.
She is back on the big screen this week as she stars alongside Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie in Pain & Gain.
And we take a look at some of the roles that have turned Wilson into a star.
- Bridesmaids (2011)
In her break out role Rebel plays the funny character of Brynn, Annie’s (Kristen Wiig) roommate, in this hilarious 2011 comedy. Although not a huge part her funny one liners made us all have a giggle.
Who can forget:‘You read my diary’ ‘at first I did not know it was your diary I just thought it was a very sad handwritten book’ Just one of our favourite quotes from Brynn.
- What to Expect When You are Expecting
In this baby focused ensemble comedy Rebel plays Janice, the ying to her boss Wendy’s yang.
Her job in a childcare store is particularly unsuited to her as she seems to have no idea how to deal with her bosses pregnancy or babies in general.
This role helped to cement Rebel’s status as the go - to actress to play laugh out loud comedy sidekick.
- Pitch Perfect (2012)
The Australian actress and stand-up comedian played the big part of Fat Amy in this 2012 comedy film. Rebel Wilson acts as a member in the all-girl singing group, the Bella’s with funny antics and random lines.
Rebel was nominated as best actress in comedy at the Broadcast Film Critics Association awards, Best Female Performance at the MTV Awards, Best Comedy Actress at the Teen Choice Awards and won both Best Musical Moment and Best Breakthrough Performance at the MTV Awards all for Pitch Perfect!
- Bachelorette (2012)
Rebel plays the part of Becky in the bachelorette. As one of the main character she is set to get married to her sweetheart Dale (Hayes MacArthur).
Her three crazy friends mess up her wedding dress and have to spend the night before and morning of the wedding desperately trying to make everything right before the big day.
The part is a departure for Rebel, as she plays a part that is less random and tongue in cheek, but still very endearing!
- Pain & Gain 2013
In her most recent role Rebel plays Robin, the duped girlfriend and then wife of Adrian (played by Anthony Mackie).
Whilst still displaying her comedy credentials Rebel also bring a sweetness to the role that make any audience really feel for the situation in which she finds herself. She is truly the innocent victim.
Pain & Gain is in UK cinemas Friday 30 August
