The Revenant may be a movie that will hit the big screen until next January, but it is already one the most talked about and anticipated films of 2016.

The Revenant is one of the most anticipated films are is marks the return of Alejandro González Iñárritu to the director's chair in what will be his first film since Birdman; which won the Best Picture Oscar earlier this year.
The movie sees Iñárritu team up with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy for the first time and they feature in the first and epic looking trailer for the film. I have to admit, I am also excited to see what the director is set to deliver with this film:
The movie is inspired by true events and will see DiCaprio take on the role of Hugh Glass, while Hardy is on board as John Fitzgerald. This is the latest collaboration between the two actors and will come six years after the huge success of Inception back in 2010.
DiCaprio and Hardy lead the cast and are joined by Will Poulter, Domhnall Gleeson, Paul Anderson, and Lukas Haas.
The Revenant is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man's epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.
In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.
This may be the first footage that we have seen for The Revenant but the movie is already being tipped as a major Oscar contender - don't be surprised if we see this film pick up nods for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor.
We do have quite a wait until The Revenant hits the big screen in January but it looks set to be one of the early must see films of 2016.
The Revenant is released 15th January 2016.
