Ben Foster is one of the most exciting and versatile actors around and he is set to return to the big screen in The Program.
The sports drama will see Foster take on the role of disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong, who was the ringleader of one of the most successful doping programs in sporting history.
The movie is based on the award-winning book Seven Deadly Sins and sees Stephen Frears back in the director's chair. Frears is a director who is no stranger the 'based on a true story' movie with The Queen and Philomena already under his belt.
The Program looks set to be a tense drama that explores the choices of a sporting icon who fooled the world. The brand new trailer has arrived - check it out:
This is set to be one of the biggest roles of Foster's career to date and he will star alongside Chris O'Dowd as David Walsh, the journalist who stopped at nothing to discover the truth about Armstrong.
Foster and O'Dowd are joined on the cast list by Lee Pace, Dustin Hoffman, Jesse Plemons, and Guillaume Canet.
The Program is the true story of the meteoric rise and fall of one of the most celebrated and controversial men in recent history, Lance Armstrong. This tense and suspenseful thriller looks at how one of the greatest deceptions in the modern era was uncovered while Armstrong convinced the world he was a hero, winning the Tour de France seven times.
I have been a fan of Foster for quite some time; with Lone Survivor and 3:10 To Yuma under his belt, but this is a film and a role that really could send his star rocketing higher.
The Program is yet to receive a release date here in the UK, but it looks set to be a film that is not to be missed.
