We love Maggie Smith here at FemaleFirst and the actress is set to return to the big screen this November with her new film The Lady in the Van.
The British drama is based on the Alan Bennett play of the same name, which, in turn, was inspired by his unexpected relationship with Mary Shepherd - who parked her car on Bennett's driveway.
Smith is set to take on the role of Shepherd in the film, while Alex Jennings takes on the role of Bennett. And you can see the pair of them in action in the brand new trailer:
The Lady in the Van marks the return of Nicholas Hytner to the director's chair, in what is his first live action feature film since he directed The History Boys - which was also an adaptation of an Alan Bennett play. Bennett himself has adapted the play into a screenplay.
Hytner has brought together a terrific cast as Smith and Jennings are joined by Frances de la Tour, Dominic Cooper, James Corden, Jim Broadbent, and Roger Allam.
Lady in the Van tells the true story of the relationship between Alan Bennett and the singular Miss Shepherd, a woman of uncertain origins who 'temporarily' parked her van in Bennett's London driveway and proceeded to live there for 15 years.
The autumn is set to be packed with a string of British movies that are not to be missed... The Lady in the Van is one that we are looking forward to the most.
The Lady in the Van is released 13th November.
