The Danish Girl is already one of the most talked about movies of 2016 and it is grabbing the headlines again after playing at the Venice Film Festival this week.
The Oscar race is now well and truly on as The Danish Girl is already being tipped as being a major player during the awards season.
The movie marks the return of Tom Hooper to the director's chair, in what is his first film since the success of musical Les Miserables - this is also the first time that he has teamed up with Eddie Redmayne since that film.
Hooper and Redmayne were on the red carpet in Venice and were joined by Alicia Vikander, Amber Heard, and Matthias Schoenaerts.
Redmayne is set to take on the role of Lili Elbe in the film, who was a transgender pioneer. The movie is set to explore her groundbreaking journey. Vikander is also on board as Elbe's artist wife Gerda Wegener and the movie is based on the book by David Ebershoff.
Ben Whishaw and Sebastian Koch make up the impressive and exciting cast list - it really is one of the best talent line-ups of early 2016.
The Danish Girl is already a heavy Oscar favourite and Redmayne could well be in the Best Actor mix once again. He bagged his first nomination earlier this year for his performance in The Theory of Everything - going on to win every major gong on the awards circuit.
Redmayne is one of the most exciting talents around and it looks like he is - once again - going to be one of the most talked about actors as we head into awards season and towards the Oscars.
The Danish Girl is released New Year's Day 2016.
