The Danish Girl is a movie that we have already talked a lot about so far this year and the first trailer for the film has finally arrived.
The Danish Girl will mark the return of Tom Hooper to the director's chair for the first time since the huge success of Les Misérables. I am a huge fan of Hooper as a filmmaker and I cannot wait to see what he delivers with this incredible true story.
Eddie Redmayne will take on the role of Lili Elbe, one of the first known recipients of sexual reassignment surgery. Redmayne is already being tipped as a Best Actor Oscar contender for his central performance and you can see him in action in this terrific new trailer:
We love Redmayne here are FemaleFirst and The Danish Girl is already one of the 2016 that I truly cannot wait to see. It looks like the British actor is set to deliver another stunning performance that will have just about everyone talking.
The Danish Girl sees Redmayne team up with Alicia Vikander for the first time as she takes on the role of Elbe's wife Gerda Wegener. Vikander is another terrific young actor and I wouldn't be surprised if we she her in the awards mix come the beginning of next year.
Hooper has assembled a wonderful cast list as Redmayne and Vikander are joined by Matthias Schoenaerts, Ben Whishaw, Amber Heard, and Sebastian Koch.
Based on the book by David Ebershoff, The Danish Girl is the remarkable love story inspired by the lives of Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener (Redmayne and Vikander), and directed by Academy Award winner Tom Hooper. Lili and Gerda's marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili's groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.
2016 is already shaping up to be another wonderful movie year and The Danish Girl is one of the 'must-see' films of next year.
The Danish Girl is released on New Year's Day 2016.
