This weekend sees the romance movie return to the big screen in the form of The Vow.
The movie sees Channing Tatum team up with Rachel McAdams, both now strangers to this genre with Dear John and The Notebook under their belts.
So to celebrate the release of the movie we took a look at some of the most romantic gestures in film.
- Never Been Kissed
Characters: Josie Geller (Drew Barrymore) and Sam Coulson (Michael Bartan)
Gesture: A brave Josie stands on a baseball field in front of the entire town, waiting for Sam to come give her her very first kiss before the game starts. Ahh.....cute!
- The Notebook
Characters: Noah (Ryan Gosling) and Allie (Rachel McAdams)
Gesture: Noah asks Allie out by hanging onto a ferris wheel. Crazy kid
- Lady And The Tramp
Characters: Lady and Tramp
Gesture: The haughty Cocker Spaniel and the cocksure mutt share a plate of spaghetti and meatballs.
When only one meatball remains, the starving stray nudges it over to the pampered pooch. Wordless. Perfect.
- Pretty Woman
Characters: Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) and Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts)
Gesture: Edward Lewis decides he can't let Vivian go after their "business arrangement" ends and attempts to be the knight in shining armour she's fantasized about.
Tackling his fear of heights by climbing the fire escape, he presents her with a bunch of flowers. Mission accomplished.
- 10 things I Hate About You
Characters: Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger) and Kat Stratford (Julia Stiles)
Gesture: Patrick hijacks school’s tannoy system and launches into a rendition of 'Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You' in front of a stadium full of high school kids. Cringe! That’s what love is.
- Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
Characters: Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) and Mark Darcy (Colin Firth)
Gesture: Bridget ventures soaking wet from the rain to Mark's firm to profess her love for him.
- The Vow
Characters: Paige (Rachel McAdams) and Leo (Channing Tatum)
Gesture: The Vow is based on the true story of a newlywed couple recovering from an accident that puts the wife in a coma.
She wakes up with severe memory loss and can’t remember any of her life with her new husband... so he has to fight to win her heart all over again.
To find out exactly how he does it watch the film at your local cinema from Friday, 10th February!
