We have already looked at some of the movies that have performed well this summer... but for every box office smash there are a handful of films that do not perform as well as expected.

Terminator Genisys

2015 is no different with a whole host of summer films falling flat at the box office, struggling to find an audience, and failing to bring in the cash.

We take a look at some of the movies that have not done well at the box office this summer - quite a few have not done as well as many expected.

- Terminator Genisys - $353.1 million

Terminator Genisys hit the big screen back in July and marked Arnold Schwarzenegger's return to the film franchise that had made him a global action star. The movie was being tipped as one of the big 'must see' blockbusters of the summer... but it has struggled at the box office.

The movie saw Alan Taylor back in the director's chair for the first time since Thor: The Dark World, while Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke, and J.K. Simmons joined Schwarzenegger on the cast list. While the film was promising to be an action packed ride that nodded back to the first two films in the series, it has struggled to find an audience at the global box office.

Terminator Genisys was made for $155 million budget with a further $50 - $100 million for marketing, it was suggested that the film would need to make $450 million to break even. At the moment, the film has grossed $353 million at the global box office - which is quite low for a summer blockbuster. The movie has also struggled with the critics.

However, the move has enjoyed huge success in China where it had the fourth biggest opening day of all time for a Hollywood film, behind Fast & Furious 7, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Transformers: Age of Extinction. This success in China could mean we do get to see another Terminator film after all. I guess we are going to have to wait and see if the planned sequel will go ahead.

- Ted 2 - $179.6 million

It was back in 2012 when we were introduced to Ted for the first time, a comedy that went on to gross in excess of $549 million at the global box office - I don't think it was a surprise to anyone when it was announced that a sequel was in the pipeline.

Seth MacFarlane returns to the director's chair as well as voicing the central character, while Mark Wahlberg was back as John. Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Barth, Giovanni Ribisi, and Morgan Freeman are also on board the cast list.

However, Ted 2 has not enjoyed the critical and commercial success as the first. The movie has received mixed reviews since its release and has struggled to pull in the same audience numbers as its predecessor.

Since hitting the big screen back at the beginning of July, the movie has only managed to gross $179.6 million at the global box office. It did open in third on its opening weekend on release. I don't think we will be seeing a third film in this comedy franchise.

- Tomorrowland - $208.3 million

It has been a great year for Disney with the likes of Avengers: Age of Ultron and Inside Out both performing well. Sadly, they have not had everything their own way with Tomorrowland struggling.

The movie marked the return of George Clooney to the big screen, while Brad Bird was in the director's chair for the action/adventure. Britt Robertson, Hugh Laurie, and Tim McGraw made up the cast list.

Tomorrowland is believed to have an estimated budget of $190 million and really has struggled to make that back since the film was released. At the moment, the film has grossed just over $208 million at the global box office.

There were also mixed reviews from the critics; which the film was praised for the themes and the visuals, it was criticised for the story and the execution. It looks like Tomorrowland is going to be one of the poorest performing movies for Disney in 2015.

- Entourage - $44.6 million

It was back in 2011 when the Entourage television series was brought to a close after eight seasons... four years on, and these characters were brought to the big screen for the first time.

Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, and Jeremy Piven were all back, while Doug Ellin was in the director's chair. Ellin is no stranger to the world of Entourage having directed a number of episodes - however, it is his first feature film since Kissing a Fool back in 1998.

Sadly, the success of the television series did not convert on to the big screen as it struggled both at the box office and with the critics. The film was harshly treated by the critics while the film has just made back its budget.

So far, the movie has grossed $44.6 million worldwide - it was made for $27.5 million. It was a film that struggled to make an impact at both the U.S. and UK box office.

Entourage

- Fantastic Four - $130 million

There is no summer film that was more discussed than The Fantastic Four, with the movie coming under fire before it even hit the big screen. The early worries about the film turned into a reality as it has struggled at the box office.

This was the first time that we had seen a Fantastic Four film since Rise of the Silver Surfer back in 2007. Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Michael B Jordan have taken over the roles of Reed Richard, Susan Storm, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm, while the movie marked the return of Josh Trank to the director's chair for the first time since his debut with Chronicle.

Fantastic Four really has come in for some harsh criticism from the critics since its release and has struggled to rake in the money - unlike some of the other comic book films that have hit the big screen so far this year.

The movie may have topped the box office in the UK but has struggled worldwide. The film has grossed $130 million at the box office so far - just scraping back its $120 million budget. Whether we see a second film remains to be seen. Some have called for the franchise to be returned to Marvel.

Fantastic Four

- Pixels - $174 million

Adam Sandler has had a rough time at the box office of late and things have not improved this summer with his latest film Pixels. The movie sees Sandler reunite with Kevin James, while Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, and Josh Gad are also on the cast list.

Pixels was the latest offering from director Chris Columbus in what was his first feature film since Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief back in 2010.

Pixels is another movie that has topped the UK box office and has appealed to gaming fans. However, the movie has been unable to replicate that success at the global box office. So far, the movie has grossed just $174 million worldwide - comfortably making back its $88 million budget.
