Summer Blockbuster Guide - Avengers Assemble

Avengers Assemble has to boast one of the most exciting cast lists of the year never mind the summer as a whole host of Marvel heroes are brought together.

This movie is as much about fighting each other as it will be about fighting evil - it's going to be fab to see the selfless Steve Rogers (Captain America) take on the selfish Tony Stark (Iron Man).

Directed by Joss Whedon, the man behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Avengers Assemble will kick off the blockbuster summer in fine style.

Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth & Chris Evans will be reprising the already well established roles of Iron Man, Thor & Captain America.

We briefly caught a glimpse of Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye in last year's Thor but we will really get to see him in action with this ensemble piece.

And Mark Ruffalo takes over the role of Bruce Banner AKA The Hulk and we will be seeing him for the very first time.

Characters such as Nick Fury, Black Widow and Agent Phil Coulson have been scattered through various Marvel movies and they too will also feature.

But no Marvel movie is complete without a villain and Avengers Assemble sees Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, back and he is meaner and badder than every before.

Mixing comedy with plenty of action Avengers Assemble looks set to be a huge box office it.

Not so sure whether it will break $1 billion at the box office, none of the stand alone movies have come anywhere close; bring all those character, actors and fans together and who knows.

But with comic book fan Whedon at the helm this complex movie of multiple characters and storylines is in good hands.

Avengers Assemble is released 27th April
