It’s been a massively-busy 24 hours for everyone working behind the scenes at Disney, with major announcements dropping left, right and centre as part of Walt Disney Studios Investor Day 2020.
Here, we delve into all of the Star Wars-related news and further Lucasfilm announcements that were made as part of the exciting presentation…
The Star Wars universe
In a galaxy far, far away… A whole new bunch of stories are about to be told! The Star Wars universe is set to open up more than ever before, after Lucasfilm revealed an impressive number of new and original stories that would be coming to fans of the space adventure franchise.
Following the massive success of Disney+ series The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm have announced their new project Obi-Wan Kenobi, which stars Ewan McGregor and a returning Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.
The Mandalorian's era is also expanding with Dave Favreau and Dave Filoni working on two series: Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka respectively. The latter will focus on the fan-favourite titular character, Ahsoka Tano.
Further titles include Andor, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Star Wars: Visions, Lando, The Acolyte and A Droid Story. It's fair to say that Star Wars fans have a lot of exciting stuff headed their way!
As for feature films? The next - Rogue Squadron - will drop in December 2023, with Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins sitting in the director's chair.
Taika Waititi has also been asked to work on another Star Wars feature film.

Away from the Star Wars universe, Lucasfilm are also working on a whole bunch of other projects.
The next instalment of the Indiana Jones franchise will be directed by James Mangold, with the current feature film slate being rounded out by Children of Blood & Bone, based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Tomi Adeyemi.
Over on Disney+, the studio will revisit Willow in a brand new series, where Warwick Davis will return to the titular role.
