Saoirse Ronan is one of the most exciting young actresses around - and she has had that tag for quite a while.
She is back on the big screen this week as she takes on the role of heroine Melanie Stryder in the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's The Host.
Like most young actors Ronan kicked off her career in TV as she appeared in episodes of The Clinic and Poof - but it wasn't long before movies came calling.
Her big break came in 2007 when she landed the role of thirteen year of Briony Tallis in the adaptation of Atonement.
The movie was directed by Joe Wright and saw Ronan team up with Keira Knightley and James McAvoy.
Atonement was a huge critical success and Ronan's performance was particularly praised.
She picked up a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for her work as well as a Bafta and Golden Globe nod.
Since then she really has seen her career soar as roles in Death Defying Acts and City of Ember followed.
She teamed up with Oscar winning filmmaker Peter Jackson in 2009 as The Lovely Bones was adapted for the big screen.
Ronan took on the central role of Susie Salmon in the movie alongside Rachel Weisz and Mark Wahlberg.
Susie Salmon is a character who watches over her family after she is murdered and struggles coming to terms with her own death.
While the movie received mixed reviews Ronan' performance, once again, received a lot of praise.
She picked up another Bafta nomination as well as a string of critics awards nods as she cemented herself as a young talent to really keep an eye on.
Ronan reunited with director Joe Wright in 2011 as she took on the title role in Hanna - a role that was very different for the actress.
This was the most physical role that Ronan had ever undertaken and yet she excelled as a young woman who is confused by who and what she it.
This week we see her back on the big screen as she kicks off a very busy year.
The Host is the latest Meyer book to be adapted into a movie and sees Andrew Niccol back in the director's chair.
The Host is a riveting story about the survival of love and the human spirit in a time of war. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy.
Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed.
Max Irons, Jake Abel, William Hurt and Diane Kruger are all also on the cast list for what looks set to be a great science fiction adventure.
She has also completed work on Justin and the Knights of Valour, Byzantium and How I Live and both will be released later this year.
She is currently filming The Grand Budapest Hotel which sees her work with director Wes Anderson for the first time.
Ronan is just one member of a terrific cast as Jude Law, Edward Norton and Owen Wilson are all also set to star.
Saoirse Ronan is an actress that we should all be excited about as she moves from blockbusterish projects to smaller movies with ease.
She showed with Atonement that she can be a real acting force and that really does look set to continue.
The Host is released 29th March.
