Ron’s Gone Wrong, a recently released animated film, follows a lonely middle-school boy called Barney Pudowski, whose parents gave him a defective ‘B-bot’, which are designed to be their kid’s best friend by connecting to their social media and downloading games.
Barney grows to love his new B-bot's glitchy nature and decides to name him Ron. However, the company that made Ron is trying to reprogramme the tiny bot without his permission.
With the help of those around him, Barney wishes to keep Ron out of the hands of the company, which creates a fast-paced, hilarious film with a great amount of charm and love.
Here is a cast and character guide with the names of the endearing characters, the voices behind them, and where you may know the actors from!
Jack Dylan Grazer as Barney Pudowski
Jack Dylan Grazer is the voice behind the awkward middle-schooler Barney.
As Barney is the only kid without the popular B-bot at school, he begins to lose touch with his friends. After his parents give him a faulty robot as a late birthday gift, Ron’s odd personality puts Barney in the spotlight.
Grazer’s acting success broke through when he played Eddie Kaspbrak in both 2017 and 2019’s IT films; his Eddie was a nervous character and rightly so, and he was also great for bringing about a few laughs.
He also voiced Alberto in Disney and Pixar’s Luca (2021), as well as starring as Freddy Freeman in Shazam! (2019), who was a friend of Billy’s (Asher Angel), the main character who finds the power to turn into superhero Shazam!.
Grazer’s next cinematic venture will be in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Zach Galifianakis as Ron
Hangover series star Zach Galifianakis plays the part of the faulty B-bot, Ron. After falling from a delivery truck, Ron lost many of the safety features the B-bots are supposed to have. This causes tech giant Bubble to try and reprogramme him to avoid any bad press.
Ron is seen to help Barney become a more confident person and aid him in making stronger and more meaningful relationships with the kids at school.
Galifianakis is known for playing Alan Garner in the three Hangover movies, as well as voicing multiple characters such as Humpty Alexander Dumpty in Puss in Boots (2011), and the Joker in The Lego Batman Movie (2017).
Ed Helms As Graham Pudowski
Ed Helms voiced Barney’s father, Graham Pudowski, in Ron’s Gone Wrong.
Graham is a very nerdy man who enjoys travelling the world selling novelty gift items. Despite him wanting to provide a happy life for his family, his long hours at work only seem to put distance between him and his son.
Helms has starred in roles such as Andy Bernard in the hit show The Office, Rusty Griswold in Vacation, Stuart Price in The Hangover trilogy, as well as having a cameo as Jack Danger in Brooklyn 99.
Olivia Colman As Donka Pudowski
Olivia Colman voices Barney’s grandmother, Donka Pudowski.
After moving to the United States from Bulgaria, Donka’s hilarious and in-your-face personality sometimes makes it that much harder for Barney to fit in at school.
Colman won the Academy Award for Best Actress as Queen Anne in The Favourite. She has also played Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown; Colman has a brilliant niche with period dramas and old-timey roles, but her performance as Donka was a breath of hilarious fresh air.
Her forthcoming projects include the Secret Invasion miniseries, as well as the Wonka movie.
Supporting cast and characters
Justice Smith voices the CEO of Bubble within Ron’s Gone Wrong, Marc Weidell. Weidell is the creator of the B-bots who decides to help keep Barney and his robot friend safe.
Smith has starred in projects such as The Get Down TV series playing Ezekiel ‘Books’ Figuero; he also played Franklin Webb in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and 2019 saw him play Tim Goodman in Pokémon Detective Pikachu.
His upcoming roles will be as Webb once again in Jurassic World: Domination, as well as playing a part in the Dungeons & Dragons film.
Rob Delaney also stars in Ron’s Gone Wrong as Andrew Morris, the COO of the Bubble company who wished to reprogram Rob.
The actor also played Rob Norris in Catastrophe, and the hilarious character of Peter in Deadpool 2 (2018); his forthcoming roles include Mission: Impossible 7 along with The Bubble.
Ron’s Gone Wrong released on October 15th, 2021.
