From her breakout role as ditzy Mean Girl Karen Smith, to her NSFW performance of porn star Linda Lovelace, Amanda Seyfried has always shown great versatility. Her latest role in heart-warming drama Fathers And Daughters sees the actress struggling to take the leap from her traumatic past to a promising and stable future, and we can't wait to see it!
The film is packed with acting greats such as Russell Crowe (Gladiator), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Jane Fonda (Monster-In-Law), Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) and Quvenzhane Wallis (Annie), and to celebrate the release on November 13, we take a look at some of Amanda Seyfried's best roles.
- Mean Girls (2004)
Probably the least mean 'Mean Girl,' Seyfried played airhead Karen in the cult chick flick. Part of the too-cool-for-school 'Plastics' who take in Lindsay Lohan's homeschooled jungle freak Cady Heron, Karen arguably had some of the best and most quotable lines.
Mean Girls showed that Amanda Seyfried could be very funny, which she has since proved over and over again in the likes of A Million Way To Die In The West and Ted 2.
- Dear John (2010)
Following soldier John (Channing Tatum) while he is on leave, Dear John is the romantic story of how he meets and falls in love with college student Savannah, played by Seyfried.
After an idyllic summer spending time with her friends and family he decides to leave the army, but 9/11 changes everything and Savannah is left to decide whether a love through letters is something that she can do.
- Mamma Mia! (2008)
Seyfried plays sweet young bride-to-be Sophie, who is determined to have her father walk her down the aisle - the only problem is she's never met him. Going behind her mother's (Meryl Streep) back and inviting three possible dads to her Greek island home, sets up the infectiously fun musical played to the music of ABBA's greatest hits.
Mamma Mia! showed that Amanda Seyfried had a seriously good voice, which she put to great use even more recently in the Oscar-winning Les Miserables.
- Lovelace (2013)
A pioneering figure of the porn industry, Linda Lovelace was the IT girl of the 1970s, but behind the A-list parties and celebrity pals was a dark and abusive reality, played stunningly by Amanda Seyfried.
From becoming a porn star to taking control of her life, Lovelace is unique in how it tells the story through both a glamourous lens and stark realism. The film also secured Seyfried's serious acting chops in the eyes of film fans.
- Fathers and Daughters (2015)
Some of Amanda Seyfried's most impressive performances have been in some of the lower-key, indie fare that she's taken on, such as Alpha Dog and While We're Young. Fathers and Daughters is no different, as Seyfried's Katie battles past demons as the daughter of tragic Pulitzer-winning novelist Jake (Russell Crowe).
This truly moving story of a child's bond with her parents and gaining the strength to love again is the perfect movie to snuggle up with in the winter months.
Other great Amanda Seyfried movies not to miss include Les Miserables, While We're Young, and Letters to Juliet.
Fathers And Daughters is out now.
