From Kingsman and Rocketman to Robin Hood, we chart the rise of one of Britain’s most promising young actors. To celebrate the home entertainment release of Robin Hood, available on Digital Download now and on DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K UHD from March 25, we’re taking a look back at the incredible career of Taron Egerton thus far...
Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
In the first movie of the series, Egerton plays Eggsy, an average, trouble making kid. After getting arrested, he receives the help of Harry (Colin Firth) and learns about his father’s involvement in a secret society, Kingsman. The movie follows Eggsy through his vigorous training to become a Kingsman, and their search for the billionaire villain, Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson). Kingsman: The Secret Service was a box office hit and launched Egerton to worldwide fame.
Eddie the Eagle (2015)
In his next movie, Egerton starred as unlikely British hero Eddie Edwards, otherwise known as Eddie the Eagle. This film follows Eddie as he trains to become an Olympic athlete despite the criticism of his peers. With the help of a disgraced champion, played by Hugh Jackman, Eddie becomes the first athlete to represent Great Britain in Olympic Ski jumping since 1928. This feel-good movie was another box office hit for the up-and-coming star.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017)
Egerton returns as Kingsman agent Eggsy in the second film of the series. When the London headquarters is destroyed by criminal Poppy Adams (Julianne Moore), Eggsy and Merlin (Mark Strong) team up with the US secret organisation, Statesmen. Kingsman team up with Agent Tequila (Channing Tatum) and Ginger Ale (Halle Berry) to locate The Golden Circle and prevent the spread of a drug-induced epidemic.
Robin Hood (2018)
Egerton takes on the iconic role of outlaw hero Robin Hood in this fresh take on the classic tale. After returning home from the Crusades, Robin of Loxley returns to find his country overrun by the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. Robin trains alongside Little John (Jaime Foxx) to defend the people of Nottingham against the corrupt government, becoming the notorious hero, “The Hood.” The classic story of this vigilante hero is embellished with jaw-dropping action and adventure.
Rocketman (2019)
Later this year, Egerton will step into the iconic shoes of Elton John. This musical film follows the singer through his musical career and personal drama over the years. Egerton performs most of the singer’s famous hits and dons some pretty fabulous outfits.
