Paul Feig is back in the director's chair this week as he brings Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy together for The Heat.
In recent years, Feig has been breaking some boundaries in Hollywood as he has put women in traditionally 'boy's only' genres.
And while he may have been bucking the trend, he has enjoyed huge success as the likes of Bridesmaids was a hit.
Feig kicked off his career in stand-up comedy before moving into acting with some small television roles.
Throughout his acting career, he has mixed TV projects with film work, appearing in movies such as Heavyweights and Statical Planets.
But it was behind the camera where he has had the most success; he kicked off his directing career in 1997 with film Life Sold Separately.
One of his early successes came in 2000 when he developed TV series Freak and Geeks.
The show brought together the likes of James Franco, Seth Rogen and Jason Segel, but it was cancelled after just twelve episodes had aired.
While that doesn't sound like a success, the series has since gone on to gain a cult following.
Feig has worked a lot in television over the years directing episodes of Arrested Development, The Office, Nurse Jackie and Weeds.
Movies such as I Am David and Unaccompanied Minors hit the big screen in 2003 and 2006, but it wasn't until Bridesmaids that he enjoyed big box-office success.
The movie was written by Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig and follows Annie (Wiig) as she has been asked to serve as maid of honour at her best friend's wedding. Naturally, chaos and disaster ensue.
Bridesmaids was a critical and box-office smash when it hit the big screen in 2011 - leaving many people asking 'why are there not more female driven comedy movies being made in Hollywood?'
The movie was nominated for Golden Globe for Best Picture - Musical or Comedy. Melissa McCarthy picked up a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination, while the film was also nominated for Best Original Screenplay.
This week sees Feig return to the female driven comedy with buddy film The Heat. The movie sees him reunite with McCarthy, while working with Sandra Bullock for the first time.
Uptight FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Bullock) and foul-mouthed Boston cop Shannon Mullins (McCarthy) couldn’t be more incompatible.
But when they join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected: buddies.
Wish List looks set to be Feig's next directorial project, but no cast or release date has been announced.
The Heat is out now.
