It doesn't seem five minutes since we were predicting that 2011 could be Colin Firth's year and here we are again looking over the contenders and predicting who will win this year.

Sadly I fear that there are very few surprises to come on Sunday night as The Descendants, The Artist and Meryl Streep have dominated the awards season over the last few weeks.

Despite that FemaleFirst is ready to put it's money where it's mouth it and predict who will win what at the 2012 Oscars.

Best Picture has always been a two horse race between The Artist & the Descendants and I feel that the novelty of The Artist will win the day.

Despite a win for Jean Dujardin at the Baftas I am still hoping that George Clooney will be the man walking away with the Best Actor Oscar - it really is about time.

Before Christmas you couldn't get a hotter favourite for glory than Meryl Streep and while some believe that Viola Davis could well spoil the party I believe Streep will still win Best Actress.

The supporting categories also seem pretty straight forward and I predict a win for Octavia Spencer for The Help & Christopher Plummer for Beginners.

It should be a good night all round for The Artist and expect two acceptance speeches from Michel Hazanavicius as I expect him to win Best Director & Best Original Screenplay.

Best adapted Screenplay should go to The Descendants, as much as I would like to see Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy win.

And Rango has been a huge hit with just about every awards ceremony so far so it is my tip to walk away with Best Animation.
