12 Years A Slave is set to go head to head with Gravity and American Hustle for the Best Picture Oscar.
The nominations for the 2014 Oscars have just been announced with those three films leading the way.
American Hustle and Gravity both have ten nominations a piece, while 12 Years A Slave received nine nods.
12 Years A Slave also picked up Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Director nominations, and has been a strong favourite for the main prize for some time.
The Steve McQueen directed movie scooped the Best Picture - Drama gong at the Golden Globes over the weekend, but faces some tough competition as nine films have been nominated for Best Picture.
Chiwetel Ejiofor picked up his first Best Actor Oscar nomination alongside Christian Bale, Bruce Dern, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Matthew McConaughey.
Christian Bale was one of four acting nods for American Hustle, as it was also nominated for Best Actress (Amy Adams), Best Supporting Actor (Bradley Cooper), and Best Supporting Actress (Jennifer Lawrence).
It is two years on the trot that both Lawrence and Cooper have been nominated, as they were both recognised for their work in Silver Linings Playbook twelve months ago.
Amy Adams picks up yet another Oscar nomination, but she is in a very tough Best Actress category alongside Cate Blanchett, Judi Dench, Meryl Streep, and Sandra Bullock.
Of all of the acting categories this does seem the most straightforward, as Blanchett has been tipped to win for quite some time.
The Best Director category is also set to be a tight run thing, as David O. Russell, Steve McQueen. Alexander Payne, Martin Scorsese, and Alfonso Cuaron are all in the running.
However, there were a couple of notable snubs as Tom Hanks and Robert Redford were overlooked in Best Actor. There was also no nomination for Emma Thompson in Best Actress.
Joel and Ethan Coen missed out for Best Director and their movie Inside Llewyn Davis was overlooked for Best Picture.
The winners will be announced Sunday 2nd March.
