Rating: 3/5
James Corden has been making a name for himself on the big screen in recent years, and now he is back with One Chance.
Once Chance sees him team up with director David Frankel to tell the story of Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts.
One Chance is the remarkable and inspirational true story of Paul Potts, a shy, bullied shop assistant by day and an amateur opera singer by night.
Paul became an instant YouTube phenomenon after being chosen by Simon Cowell for 'Britain's Got Talent.' Wowing audiences worldwide with his phenomenal voice, Paul went on to win 'Britain's Got Talent' and the hearts of millions.
One Chance is more than just a look at a man who became a reality TV star - it is a heartwarming tale about dreams and never giving up on them.
Corden takes on the central role of Potts and delivers a heart-warming and touching performance about a man who believes he is destined for me.
No matter how many times Potts gets knocked back he picks himself up and strives forward - largely thanks to his wife Jules.
Alexandra Roach takes on the role of Jules: a strong woman who stand firmly behind her husband time after time.
The relationship between Paul & Jules is the heart of this film and they really do deliver touching and funny performances.
Of course we all know how this story ends, but it is interesting to delve into the story of Paul Potts: I didn't know anything about his other than he was the winner of Britain's Got Talent.
A fantastic cast has been assembled as Julie Walters and Colm Meaney also star as Paul's parents. They both deliver great and funny performances, but it would have been nice to see more of them in the film.
Paul's mother was a supporter of his opera career, while his father just thought he was a dreamer: I personally would have liked to have seen these dynamics to have been explored a little further.
Corden is an engaging leading man and you can really see why he is winning over audiences in both UK and U.S.
There is a real warmth to One Chance and it does exactly what you expect it to - even if it is a little formulaic.
One Chance does not rival biopic movies such as Ray or Walk The Line, but it is a film that will put a smile on your face and is a pleasant watch.
One Chance is released 25th October.
