In Hollywood these days it seems that the older you get the more likely you are to thrown yourself into an action role.
The older guys and girls are still showing the youngsters just how to kick some movie ass.
Red 2 hits the big screen this week as we have looked at some of the older actors in Hollywood that are still enjoying an action career.
Bruce Willis (58)
Ok so Bruce Willis is not that old at 58 but he is taking on more action roles that ever - he also remains one of the best in the business.
It has been a busy year for the actor so far as he has been killing bad guys left, right and centre with A Good Day To Die Hard and G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
He is back this week as he reprises the role of Frank Moses in Red 2, a movie that comes three years after we were introduced to this character for the first time.
This time around the retired CIA agents are on the MI6 hit list and must track down a missing portable nuclear device.
Willis will also be reprising his role of John Hartigan in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and he is expected to appear in The Expendables 3.
As if that is not enough, he is also linked to two further action projects; American Assassin and Expiration.
Sylvester Stallone (67)
Sylvester Stallone has been behind some great action movies over the years with the of Rambo, Cliffhanger and Demolition Man under his belt.
And he shows no sign of slowing down, having been the mastermind behind The Expendables franchise.
We were introduced to the character of Barney Ross back in 2010 - Stallone directed that first film and enjoyed box office success with it.
Since then we have seen Stallone's action fire re-ignited with roles in The Expendables 2 and Bullet to the Head; showing that he is more than a match for the younger generation of action stars.
He will be back on the big screen this autumn with new film Escape Plan, which sees him team up with Arnold Schwarzenegger and director Mikael Håfström.
Stallone will then turn his hand to drama and sport/comedy projects with Reach Me and Grudge Match, before turning to The Expendables 3.
Arnold Schwarzenegger (66)
Arnold Schwarzenegger one of the biggest action stars throughout the eighties and nineties with franchises Conan and Terminator and movies such as The Last Action Hero, True Lies and Predator all under his belt.
Schwarzenegger took a break from acting to focus on his political career and being governor of California.
But now his term in office is over he is back... and he is kicking ass all over again.
We have seen him make an appearance in the first two Expendable movies, but his first lead role came in the for of The Last Stand.
The movie saw the actor take on the role of a Sheriff, who must protect his town from a drug cartel.
He will team up with Stallone for Escape Plan, before starring in Sabotage at the beginning of next year.
He is expected to appear in The Expendables 3, and has been linked to Captive and Terminator 5.
Danny Trejo (69)
Danny Trejo is one of the hardest working actors in Hollywood as he goes from movie to movie leaving a body count in most of his movies.
He is back this autumn as he reprises the role of Machete Cortez in Robert Rodriguez's, Machete Kills; the title pretty much sums up the way the film is going to go.
Trejo has also completed work on In The Blood, Force of Execution, The Contractor, Vengeance.
And he shows no sign of slowing down has he has a mammoth ten projects in production or pre-production.
Helen Mirren (68)
The action genre is not usually a place where you would find Oscar winner Helen Mirren - however the Red franchise has given her the chance to channel her inner action hero.
She took on the role of retired CIA agent Victoria back in 2010. But when her life is threatened by those she use to work for she is called back into action with Bruce Willis, John Malkovich and Morgan Freeman.
And this week Mirren will be showing that she is a woman not to be messed with once again, as she is set to reprise the role.
Sadly, there are no more action roles on the horizon for the actress but it is great to see her doing her thing in Red 2.
Other older action stars including Chuck Norris, Harrison Ford, Jackie Chan and Liam Neeson.
Red 2 is released 2nd August.
