Mr Peabody And Sherman

Mr Peabody And Sherman

If you are a film fan, then February is going to be a terrific month on the big screen.

If you are looking for action, drama, animation, comedy, or romance, then look no further as we take a look at some of the films that are not to be missed.

- Dallas Buyers Club - released 7th February

Everyone is talking about Matthew McConaughey because he delivers a knockout performance in Dallas Buyers Club; this month we will see what all the fuss is about.

Directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, the movie follows Ron Woodroof: a man who is given thirty days to live after being diagnosed with AIDS. He sets out on a quest to get those suffering with the disease the medication that they need.

McConaughey has changed the direction of his career in recent years, with roles in The Lincoln Lawyer, Killer Joe, and Magic Mike, but this is set to be THE performance of his career so far.

He has already scooped the Best Actor Golden Globe and SAG, and looks set to triumph at the Oscars next month.

Dallas Buyers Club is a no-nonsense look at the worst of the AIDS crisis, and yet it is still an incredibly moving film.

- Mr Peabody & Sherman -released 7th February

DreamWorks Animation has delivered some terrific movies in recent years, and this February they are back with Mr. Peabody & Sherman.

The movie brings together another fantastic voice cast as Ty Burrell, Max Charles, Ariel Winter, Leslie Mann, Stanley Tucci, Lake Bell, and Allison Janney are all on board.

Mr. Peabody, (Burrell) the world’s smartest person who happens to be a dog. When his 'pet' boy Sherman (Charles) uses their time travelling WABAC machine without permission, events in history spiral out of control to disastrous and comical results.

It’s up to this most unexpected of father-son teams to somehow put things back on track before the space-time continuum is irreparably destroyed.

If you are looking to kick back and enjoyed a good old family film, then Mr. Peabody & Sherman could well be the movie for you. Can guarantee the kids are going to love it!!

- RoboCop - released 7th February

RoboCop is one of the first big event movies of 2014, as the eighties action film gets a big of a facelift.

The movie sees José Padilha make his English speaking directorial debut and has brought together a great cast.

Joel Kinnaman takes on the central role of Alex Murphy, and he is joined by Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, and Samuel L. Jackson.

In 2028 Detroit, when Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) - a loving husband, father, and good cop - is critically injured in the line of duty, the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer.

RoboCop is set to be a high-octane action thriller; not to mention it has one of the best ensemble casts of the year.

- Cuban Fury - released 14th February

If comedy is your thing, the Cuban Fury is set to be the laugh out loud comedy not to be missed.

Nick Frost has delivered some great comedy performances over the year, but this time around, he will also be showing off his dance skills.

Beneath Bruce Garrett's shabby, overweight exterior, the passionate beating heart of a salsa king lays dormant.

Only one woman can reignite his Latin fire. Spotlight hits, sweat drips, heels click - Nick Frost IS Cuban Fury!

James Griffiths is in the director's chair, as he makes his feature film debut. Frost is joined on the cast list by Rashida Jones, Chris O'Dowd, Ian McShane, and Olivia Colman.

If you haven't seen the Cuban Fury trailer then you really should check it out, as it looks like it is going to be so much fun!!!

- The Monuments Men - released 14th February

The Monuments Men is the February movie that I am most looking forward to, as George Clooney returns to the director's chair.

This will be his first film as director since The Ides of March, and he will also lead an all-star cast.

And while I say all-star... Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, and Hugh Bonneville are all on board.

The movie follows a platoon in World War II, which is given the task of rescuing art stolen by the Nazis.

The Monuments Men is set to be part biopic, part drama, and part comedy and I cannot wait to see it.

- Her - released 14th February

Her is a movie that just about everyone is talking about, and will be in the mix for Best Picture at the Oscars.

The movie sees Spike Jonze return to the director's chair as well as pen the screenplay.

The movie sees Joaquin Phoenix lead an all-star cast as a lonely writer who forms a bond with a newly bought operating system called Samantha; voiced by Scarlett Johansson.

Jonze has been behind some fascinating movies about relationships, and Her looks set to be another exploration of that theme.

Phoenix and Johansson are joined on the cast list by Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, and Kristen Wiig.

- Only Lovers Left Alive - 21st February

I have already had the chance to see Only Lovers Left Alive, and it is a stunning movie from director Jim Jarmusch.

Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton star as two vampires who have been in love for centuries. Their love story has already endured several centuries at least, but their debauched idyll is soon disrupted by her wild and uncontrollable younger sister.

Can these wise but fragile outsiders continue to survive as the modern world collapses around them?

From start to finish, this is an incredibly beautiful movie that is unlike any other film in the 'vampire' genre.

It is moody and mellow, and boasts two fantastic central performances from Swinton and Hiddleston; spending time in the company of these two characters really is incredibly engrossing.

Other movies to watch out for include A New York Winter's Tale, The Invisible Woman, and The Book Thief.
